In the world of mental health counselling, there is a unique approach that is gaining popularity known as geek therapy. This modern approach combines traditional counselling techniques with elements of video gaming and popular culture to help clients navigate through their mental health challenges.

This type of therapy uses "Geek artifacts" within the counselling environment. These technically are Fandoms (domain of fans) which we all have. Fandoms can range from a sports team to a favourite tv show or even a cook show. It is basically a domain of fans where fans could follower an individual to a corporation.
Often when starting out a difficult "Quest" or journey which to be in a better "headspace" we need motivation and inspirtation. This is where using the inspirations of our fandoms come into play. We can look to characters or individuals for inspiration and remember their struggles and even to relate to them, so that can propel us to keep "climbing".
As for me I have found stories/video games have taught me a number of things as well as shown me a lot insight. They are doors to other worlds but also into creative peoples minds. I wish to use thse experiences to help my clients so they can jouurney through difficult times and complete their quest of mental wellbeing.
